GROWER INFORMATION
his section presents growers data arranged by tobacco type and type of growers. Tobacco growers are in two main categories namely Estate growers and Club growers. Club growers are mainly smallholder farmers who grow tobacco on customary land. Estate growers are large growers.
For a club to be registered by the Tobacco Control Commission, the club must be made up of at least 10 growers and not more than 30 growers. While for an estate to be registered by the Tobacco Control Commission, the piece of land on which the estate owner intends to plant the tobacco must have a valid sketch map issued by the Survey Department of the Ministry of lands, a title deed for the land must also be available and must be in the name of the person/institution that intends to register the estate.
